Nintendo withdraws user reviews in the eShop after its launch

Nintendo limitedly launched a new section of reviews for video games in its eShop digital store, looking for a way for players to recommend titles such as Splatoon 2, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe or The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. However, just a few days later, it has been removed - as you can see here -. As confirmed by Nintendo, it was a test.

The system offered 5 stars and a series of descriptions and adjectives, as well as a small space for players to give their opinion about the game in question and guide other users. Soon several users of Reddit realized the functionality on the official website of Nintendo of America, and after showing it, the company has decided to withdraw it without notice.

" offered for a while a user review option to allow players to share their opinions on Switch's video games on our website and portal, the response has been very positive, and Nintendo appreciates the time and effort that players have put in written thought and argued opinions on the games ", commented a representative to Polygon.

According to Nintendo, it was a test within the scope of scores and rankings

"Nintendo has wanted to remove this feature while we think and evaluate the future of ratings and ratings on We have no date when an update of the system or this initiative will be offered, but we appreciate the enthusiasm shown in this test," he concluded.
